Alzheimer's conversation project

Dr. Devin Casenhiser and Dr. Eun Jin Paek from the Department of Audiology & Speech Pathology at the University of Tennessee Health Science Center are conducting a study named Conversations with Alzheimer’s Patients.

The purpose of the study is to investigate topics and patterns of conversations between individuals with Alzheimer's disease and related dementias (ADRD) and their caregivers.

In this study, caregivers will complete an online demographic questionnaire about a family member who has been diagnosed with ADRD. The questionnaire asks for information about the patient’s symptoms, daily routines, and typical topics of conversation.  Caregivers will create and upload an audio recording of two conversations per day during typical daily routines over the course of three or four days (for a total of 6 recordings).

The participation in this study will take place over three to four days and last no more than a total of 7 hours and 15 minutes including recording of conversations. The participants will receive a $20 electronic gift card for Target upon completion of the study.
